A Personal Message to Obama

In today's activity you have the opportunity to send a personal message to the next president of America, Barack Obama.

You should only do this activity if you are over 13 years old.

Task:

  • Before you start the activity, you should think about what you would like to say to Obama and in what things in the world you would like him to try to change.
  • Make a short list - perhaps with 5 things that you feel are really important and that you think he could change.
  • You could also watch this video of Barack Obama talking about his plans for 2008.

  • Once you have done this, you should go to the Avaaz website at:
    http://www.avaaz.org/en/million_messages_to_obama/96.php
  • Here you will be able to add your own personal message that will be heard around the world.
  • Write your own message and try to include the five important things that you would like him to change.
  • You will need to add an email address and some minimal personal details, so make sure you are willing to do this before you send the message.
If you would like to find out more about Barack Obama you can check the Wikipedia information about him. Barack Obama on Wikipedia .

I hope you enjoy this activity and come back soon for more daily EFL ESL activities to help develop your English.

Hey Nik,

This came very, very handy. I've used it in class today, and posted assignment guidelines on my class wiki. I've integrated the use of blogs so they could work on writing their drafts first before posting to avaaz.
